Stress and the Equality Act

Stress would not usually count as a disability under the act as it is usually short-term issue due to life events which should resolve once those events do.

Imagine it as a bit like the mental form of a running injury, where you overdo things and are genuinely injured but will recover with rest.

A disability, meanwhile, lasts or is expected to last at least 12 months and has a substantial impact on the ability to do day to day tasks, so most mental health conditions would count. Depression and anxiety would usually count, for example.
