There are many factors that can impact our physical and mental mental health. These factors can in turn impact the quality of our mental wellbeing.Having positive mental wellbeing means we are more likely to make healthier choices and decisions. Poor mental health can lead to us leaning on some negative behaviours such as isolation and avoidance which may be harmful to us. We might also lean more on our negative coping strategies such as alcohol, substance misuse, gambling, smoking or vaping.
When we are struggling with our mental health we often feel out of control and want to have more control over our environment. This can lead to relationship problems, concerns around eating, sleeping and exercise.
